About ShitBio: Exposing Domain Malpractice, Educating Buyers & Fighting for Fairness
The problem of Shit Domains and Greedy domain flippers / squatters
Differences between Respectable Domain Investors and Disgraceful Flippers and Squatters
Ethical domainers rely on their instincts, good decision-making and ability to handpick short and memorable (and brandable) domain names to make good investment. More importantly, they offer fair pricing and willingness to negotiate with end users who are interested in buying the domain name for business development.
The domaining world thrives because of their contributions and hard work.
Unfortunately, the domaining world is polluted by:
- Unrealistic flippers
Misguided newbies hoarding awfully long names (e.g. BuyVeryCheapFlightTickets.com / BestAIChatTool.com) that do not and will not attract any buyers. They falsely believe that domaining is a get-rich-quick scheme to wealth and rely on misleading bot appraisals or false scarcity tactics.
- Squatters
Predators exploiting trends or well-known events in future (registering GPTChat9.com or WorldCup2058.com now) or hijacking established brands (registering Tesla in remote and funny extensions like .top / .buzz / .vip / .wiki) to extort business owners.
Their goal isn’t investment – they act on bad faiths by holding the brands hostage, stealing type-in traffic or trying to develop a misleading website with the brand representation.
Our mission
Shit Bio exists to expose the dark side and malpractice of the domain industry:
- Pigeon-shit domains
Overpriced, Unusable and Unbrandable domains like AiStartup2030.com asking for $10,000
- Predatory Practice
Unscrupulous registries charging an arm and a leg for obscure extensions or registrars being sketchy and fishy when billing the customers:
– In some new gTLDs, the registry applies a “premium” at different tiers on a range of selected domain names. For example, “a.xyz” attracts a prohibitive renewal fee at $10xxx annually. Such “premium” price tags do not exist in .COM / .NET / .ORG and most of the established ccTLDs, including but not limited to .US / .CC / .CA / .DE / .ME
– Some registrars try to squeeze more pennies from their customers by selling so-called add-ons at additional cost while those things are actually included as basics and for free with other registrars:
Registrar | What are they trying to charge you for more? |
GoDaddy | They offer a much higher renewal / transfer cost for each domain unless you subscribe to their “Discount Domain Club” at $239.88 per year (as at 2025) |
ISTanCo | You are required to pay extra for URL forwarding ($3.08 per year) and Whois privacy ($6.05 per year) |
Infomaniak | Same as the above – they charge you extra for Whois privacy |
- Cybersquatting & UDRP Abuse
Hijackers exploiting trademarks or weaponizing legal processes to steal domains.
We’re not here to shame individuals – but when greed harms the entire ecosystem, we’ll call it out with evidence.
What We Do (And Don’t Do)
Our Principles
- Transparency: We critique domains/practices using publicly available data (sale listings, Whois records, UDRP filings).
- Fairness: We avoid naming individuals/companies unless their actions are systemic (e.g., a registrar with 100+ hidden fee complaints).
- Education: We explain why a domain is overvalued (e.g., “This 25-character name has zero search traffic”).
What We Don’t Do
- Personal Attacks: We focus on actions, not people.
- Defamation: Claims are backed by screenshots, pricing history, or public information.
- Profit: We don’t accept payments to remove critiques or promote domains.
